The House of Blues in North Myrtle Beach, SC, has been the venue for the Murder Mystery’s public performances since 2001. To keep you on your toes, every month at The House of Blues, we switch up the scripts and have a completely new cast of characters. That means even if you come once every month, you will have a new mystery to solve! That, along with a smart script writing, seasoned actors, and a truly interactive experience is exactly why we’ve performed for over 150,000 guests in over 1,300 shows.

The Original Murder Mystery is a great place to celebrate any and all special occasions. The show has been a premier spot for celebrating a birthday with friends and family and an anniversary with that special someone. If you have a group of two or a group of 30 — not to worry! You will be sure to meet new friends, and suspects, seated alongside of you as you join together to solve the investigation that you have landed smack dab in the middle of. If you or your group would like to request to be included in part of the mayhem, be sure you let the box office know the day prior to the show. We have one piece of advice—when you walk in, the main thing to remember is to trust no one and question everything.

Along with the public shows at the House of Blues, we also offer private shows that can be custom tailored to fit your wants, needs, and budget. We provide an assortment of scripts for you to choose from, or we can work with you individually to create a completely original script to fit any event. If you are hosting a themed party we can help there, too. For specifically themed shows, we can outfit our cast to be dressed for whatever you can think up! With a cast consisting of current and former directors, producers, writers, artists, and just straight wise guys, we offer a wealth of experienced creativity that is unlike any other Murder Mystery show. The Original Murder Mystery cast is able to bring any of your ideas to life and is certain to bring the party to any event. We serve the Grand Strand area, Horry County, Brunswick County, North Carolina, South Carolina…shoot we will go cross-country if you’d like! You may have noticed that our social media and google presence is seemingly on the newer side. To give you all a little background, the show’s ownership has changed hands twice over the last 22 years. In the early Spring of 2023, the show went through a complete rebrand, major reboot, and has reinvigorated direction under the new owner and 14 year cast member, Josh Moro. Josh is originally a New York native and has been residing in Myrtle Beach since July of 2000. With experience as an entrepreneur and owner, Josh has used his creativity and ingenuity to create custom spaces for people through his flagship company, Bella Homes. He has been a boutique custom builder since 2008 and loves the creative process of bringing people’s ideas to life.

This is exampled by Bella Homes flagship house Josh custom created and what is locally known as the Castle House, located off the Intracoastal Waterway. When presented with the opportunity to put his creative business approach to lead the Murder Mystery in a new direction, Josh’s wife Sara, along with his 5 kids…yes 5…whole heartedly encouraged him to dive head first into the opportunity. The cast members also shared the same excitement and enthusiasm for this next chapter and are working together to bring their creative best to the show. Having this new leadership, along with an experienced and dedicated cast that bring the show to life, we feel strongly that this new season of Murder Mystery is going to be the best yet.
So, WHY did we name this company the ‘The Original Murder Mystery,’ you may ask? We have a few good reasons. Firstly, the roots of our show go back to the first murder mystery dinner theatre in the Grand Stand at the House of Blues. In fact, the majority of the actors on cast have been with us 15 years. We even have one cast member that has been with us for 21 years! We truly are a direct derivative of the original Murder Mystery show that has been calling the House of Blues home since 2001. We would like to to express thanks to Murder Mystery Productions and Shady Characters for the seeds they planted that led us here today.
Secondly, while preserving the spirit of the Murder Mystery that you know and love, we are also creating a fresh, new take on the overall experience. Original scripts, Red Herrings, methods of mayhem, and creative clues are just some of the original elements that we are bringing to the Grand Strand area. We create our material from within to ensure that the show will be something you truly have not and will not see anywhere else! We challenge our actors to not just play a character, but to BE the character, bringing that real, genuine experience to our guests, no matter how nutty or serious their role may be! The Original Murder Mystery cast is especially talented in improvisational and situational comedy, making this show immensely interactive and immersive for the audience. That’s why we are not like any theater other company, we are The Original Murder Mystery.
